This is a dumb take. The internet definitely has more reach and impact across our cities than we as individuals have.

People can do work on the ground and waste their free time on the internet arguing with dumb takes just as people can do fuck all in their area and waste their free time on the internet looking at memes.

If you think the average person cares about or reads academic papers you’re delusional.

Yes just saying communism good or bad probably won’t change hearts and minds but unchecked pro-capitalist and pro-imperialist messages bombarding consumers of social and mainstream media absolutely portrays the status quo as the only acceptable scenario with no alternatives.

If you think anticapitalist memes haven’t radicalised people then you are naive to the effects of propaganda.

I give you jrehwald15 as a good example of this

Sharing memes has a low bar of entry and a high reach depending on the platform shared, for example posting a meme to your cities subreddit would have had big reach in your local area for very little effort. Other subs or platforms with more global viewers could also be used instead.

Running an inperson leftist event like a comedy show takes a lot of effort, potentially money and will very likely only attract an already radicalised section of people. Watering down the message to appeal to a wider audience is possible but not ideal and attracting a wider audience means there is a higher risk of physical confrontation.
