I own over 2,000 games on Steam and have tested dozens on 3.5.

  1. automatically fixes (black bars) 16:10 aspect ratios in some games. Elden Ring no longer has black bars. It is not stretched, it fills in the top and bottom like a wide screen patch. Pretty dang awesome but it’s extremely buggy and doesn’t work 9 outta 10 times so it’s mostly still black bars.

  2. the color vibrancy slider is amazing. Colors pop way more and it feels like having an entirely new Deck. Games look much better imo with the vibrancy slider up a notch or two.

  3. not many bugs. I had a crash or two. Elden Ring seems to have a more difficult time starting. I had to verify files in a couple games and they worked fine again.

  4. a lot of Steam Deck mods won’t work with 3.5, this should go without saying. They’ll have to be updated.

  5. some games seem to run slightly better and others slightly worse but overall better. This could just be placebo.

  6. volume of the speakers is greatly increased. They’re significantly louder with the update.

3.5 can be accessed via developer options and isn’t really recommended yet. I estimate it’s still months away from release unfortunately. The wait will be worth it though!
