My partner hates that I can listen to stuff and work at the same time. I just tuned into this and it starts off with Shaun talking about Melbourne. So let’s go on an adventure with Shaun and see where we end up. It’s a two hour recording lol.
Had very little to do with Melbourne. Still informative though.
Worth watching? I don’t like giving more oxygen/brain time to idiots so I’m inclined not to watch it. Good to get out of my bubble sometimes I guess.
I think so. It’s mostly audio so you could get the same out of it while not having to be glued to the screen. The presenter has a bit of a laid back, witty style and a cool accent/voice.
The spoiler is (and please anyone clarify or correct me) that this person (Kellie-Jay/Posie Parker) is an outspoken trans exterminationist (and fascist?) who is building a political movement (and now a party in the UK?) that uses rhetoric and tactics akin/identical to those used by the NAZIS when they were also a small political party. The kicker is that it looks and sounds like they have the support of a billionaire in JK Rowling (in some senses anyway). Also the media is a few years behind on how much of a threat this tendency actually is (and how far JK how gone down the rabbit hole) and that anyone who is a trans ally needs to clock this not just for trans people but for everyone. Something like that.
Nice summary, thanks! I’ll check it out ❤️
I think it is actually important and extremely relevant to a lot of the politics going on in the Victorian Liberal Party at the moment.
The Liberals who want Deeming reinstated to the Liberal party, and a lot of the media, keep claiming that the rally was just a “peaceful” rally about “women’s rights”, which was “gate-crashed by neo-Nazis”. The thesis of this video is that the rally and it’s organiser Kellie-Jay are actually inherently and fundamentally fascist and trans exterminationist, pretty much to the same degree as the literal Nazis in the early 1930s. If true, this really changes what is going on and shows exactly what kind of people a large part of the Liberal Party in Victoria really are.
Good point. I totally forgot about Deeming. I bet the presenter doesn’t know much about Vic/Oz politics and probably didn’t pick up on this connection because after the intro and reference to the Melbourne rally they mostly focused on Kellie-Jay.
