There are however a lot of peer reviewed studies on ‘believing in yourself’ or ‘self confidence’ as our clinical psychologist friends would call it. Of course there is still an ongoing replication crisis in the whole field of psychology but that’s a story for another time (read: your philosophy of science class).

Not because of any phony god’s blessing. But because, I am enlightened by my intelligence.

I’ve never met an atheist who thought they could bootstrap their way out of solipsism.

Regardless, Descartes solved this almost 400 years ago.

I’m pretty sure there’s evidence for a self.

Then again, the brain we use to intrepet the results is basically a blackbox.

There is a great account on mastodon called “capybara every hour” in which every hour they post an image of capybara(s). Highly recommended.

I lived in Indonesia (Borneo) where mystic and dark magic practices can easily found here, and still my friend is atheist for 9 years (2010 - 2019). I like discuss with him bout consciousness, psychology, and psychedelic drugs. Things change when suddenly, he converted to religionist because his close friend bring him to deep forest (in Banjarmasin), far away from his home for 2 years learning black magic. After that, he found this world has so many things to explore with rather than stuck in one place blindly believe in somethin because your mind tell its true. I admit he had big curiosity, willing to learn many things outside his comfort zone. Just wanna tell this interesting story, never expected this happen to my life…
