I was at a Sanders rally in Durham in February 2020 and felt certain that things were going to get better, at least a little bit. It was a big room jam-packed with people talking and cheering, just full of positive and optimistic energy

I miss that feeling so much

The last time I thought something good would happen in American politics was actually after Bernie. I actually thought there would be some kind of government action on covid. Like real lockdowns, etc. I’m embarrassed to admit it. Of course it all went away the second I heard about the first anti-mask rallys.

  • What do you really want to know? Am I sorry? There’s not a day goes by I don’t feel regret. Not because I’m in here, or because you think I should. I look back on the way I was then, a young, stupid kid. I wanna talk to him. I wanna try to talk some sense to him – tell him the way things are. But I can’t. That kid’s long gone and this old man is all that’s left. I gotta live with that.
