They should have the players who received medical treatment taken off for 5 minutes as well , might cut down the amount of fake injuries.

Can we just sin bin all referees in operation for 10 centuries and replace them with some that can actually follow the current rules?

My biggest wish if this is going to be a thing is that the sin-bins are placed near the corner spot. Just so the ref can tell players to “GO SIT IN THE CORNER!” or say “Time for a time-out in the corner young man!”

On paper I don’t object to the idea, but in reality I question why when they already have a yellow card for this very reason. The problem, as always, is referees not doing their jobs and brandishing yellows for obvious cynical fouls.

Start waving cards as you’re supposed to and some teams would be down to 6 men before half-time.

I referee low level games and I always thought its weird the rules are more strict at that level and pros get away with all sorts, time wasting etc. I have to call offsides without help and no VAR to lean on.

And a purple card for an extra substitution, and a blue card for a 2 min break to put on warmer clothes, and a green card for free transfer in next window, and a pink card just because!

Not for cynical fouls. That’s what the yellow and red cards are for. Would like to see sin-bins used more for things like dissent and time-wasting.

I know we’re all cynical to new referee changes, but this seems like a pretty good idea. I’m so tired of the last fifteen minutes of a game being loaded with tactical fouls with no real repercussions. Hopefully it’ll make games a lot more open.

This won’t solve the crappy refereeing thus far but it also isn’t meant to do that.

News flash to fans rules of the game have changed over the years. So before complaining let’s see what happens.

I’m interested to see it. Red cards can make games extremely boring. Sometimes it feels like too harsh a punishment, especially if the red was for 2 yellows, and one was for something trivial like kicking the ball away. Of course, you’re stupid to do anything which can get you sent off when you’re already on a yellow, but 10 mins with 10 men should be a strong deterrent without necessarily defining the whole game.
