TL;DR: Bungie scrambled to cut staff to avoid Sony taking over the company fully due to missed revenue projections. Morale in the studio is expectedly low. More layoffs will happen if TFS doesn’t perform well.

Basically someone wants to stay in charge, doing a miserable job and let others drown. That are some tasty soft skills.

Everything I read about this implies Bungie was making all the decisions. Also Bungie signed the contract with that clause in it.
I don’t like Sony but sounds like they’re mostly not to blame.
