I had posted on a FFF (Front Flipper Friday) that one of my go-to office carry knives was the CJRB Malieah. A great 5th pocket carry that is not worrisome to non-knife people and fits within the 2.5" blade length limit of the city where the company office resides.
I think the CJRB has been replace by the Civivi Baby Banter. At least, it seems to have been for the past 6 ot 7 visits.
The Baby Banter is even less worrisome to non-knife folks (some have said it is “cute” which I’m sure it bristles at).
The knife is my go-to for food slicing at work and (once cleaned) boxes, tape, or as in today: velcro cable straps so I could jerry-rigg a second wireless lavaliere mic receiver to a small video camera.
It’s small and unassuming but has performed really well. If you’re looking for a knife with those properties on the budget side, I highly recommend it.

Re: Bringing your knife to the office.
It never ceases to amaze me how fast it goes from:
- You carry that thing around with you???
- Do you have your knife?
- Can I borrow your knife?

So about that.
I briefly worked at an auto parts store years and years ago, and one of those inevitable things happened where my boss asked me to borrow my knife. Not thinking, I handed him my Junkyard Dog. This motherfucker proceeded to use it to saw the end off of a cardboard tube of cupronickel brake line. And in the process, sliced off about a 1/8" of the end of a brake line. With my knife.
To its credit, the Junkyard Dog barely flinched and you had to look with magnification to see what he did to the edge. I fixed it easily enough. But I also didn’t lend him any of my nice knives again, either.
This is the truth!
I never get tired of these posts. One day I’ll buy a knife.
Today should be that day! 😆
I’ll treat myself in the new year! Lots of little peeps in my life that need to get gifts first.
The nice thing about right now (not this second but 2023/2024) is that there is a huge variety of inexpensive knives that are of very good quality. What used to be flee-market-or-gas-station-garbage-knife prices will now get you a knife that will last you, if not the rest of your life, for a good long while. It’s rather amazing. No need to break the bank for a quality product for sure.
No pics of it closed??
That pocket clip is incredible. The thought put into making the attachment point flush with the scales is a beautiful thing.
Great post.
I had one of it closed but it was crap so I didn’t post it. I took these at work rather quickly (hence the yellow note pad) and didn’t want to risk someone walking by and seeing me and then immediately call HR. 😆
Easy way to get a reputation at work: photoshoot of knives at your desk! 😂
I’m a big fan of this knife, and I might just have to treat myself for Xmas…
Not in the office today so different background and fairly direct lighting.
Beautiful. My only wish is that there would be a smooth filler piece for the reversible clip divot. But that’s just me being picky.
Thanks
