“I wanted to create a sweater that illustrated the bold, dynamic intensity of the Northern Lights, from quiet ribbons of color that seem rooted to the earth, to the wild chromatic dance of light sweeping freely through the sky.” --via the pattern creator on Mastodon @Indigodragonfly
Oh wow that’s a stunner. Reminds me of paint swirls more than anything.
Of course I’ll never in a million years get around to actually making it, but I can certainly admire it from afar.
Isn’t it remarkable? I saw it before I read the details and I knew instantly it was Northern Lights in fiber form!

Exactly!

In case it’s not clear, I posted this to a kbin “magazine” (which is like a subreddit) and this is part of the chatter over there. Here’s the link. https://kbin.social/m/knitting/t/65876/ISSUE-23-Light-of-the-Valkyrie-Knitty-com-First-Fall-2023
I like that these things can bounce out to Mastodon, but I think it breaks the continuity of the conversation.
I’ve made two torso pieces (plus sized garments) from free patterns at knitty.com, so really: God bless Knitty.com
