Veterans resign as force established as civilian disaster relief becomes ‘militaristic’ and ‘abusive’

State guards are used by many states. Since the national guard can be federalized, states need a force to protect the states while the guard is gone.

    Does all the guard ever leave such that the state is basically defenseless again…whatever it needs to defend against?

      Large portions of the guard do. If we went to war with China or Russia. Most the guard would leave.
