No way! This is still my favorite Mario RPG i cant believe they’re finally doing something with the series! They’ve always been so reluctant to even acknowledge its existence since it got released

I believe this all boiled down to issues with ownership (SquareEnix / Nintendo). Seems they’ve worked something out, though!

Yeah it was a big and welcome surprise here! Had a running joke that I wasn’t going to live to see anything Super Mario RPG in my lifetime, I guess I did live to see the day!

The proportions are a little off to me but that may be the style.

Can’t believe they’re remaking it though!

Yeah, my first thought was “why does he look like that haha”

Definitely excited to play it though, looks like a fantastic game to occupy me during lunch breaks at work!

This looks awesome. I feel like it would be worth $40usd but I’m betting Nintendo will be asking $70usd. For 70, I’ll stick to the SNES.

    edit: it’s $60usd

I read somewhere that Nintendo said that they’re not blanket raising their games to $70; that they evaluate on a title by title basis, which is why the new WarioWare is $50 (as is the pikmin collection)

Wow I cant believe it finally happened. Mario RPGs fans have been vocally craving more since Paper Mario. A remake isnt technically more but it’s cool to see this game finally get official recognition again and bring in new fans who can fuel the flames of ADD GENOS TO SMASH discourse

Some instances can still downvote it just wont affect beehaw users but i don’t see the downvotes either so probably someone on lemmy.one cause only notfromhere can see it.

Are you sure? I’m here from lemm.ee and I can downvote comments in this post and it shows their points decrease when I do it

Your client may show it and your instance may collect the locally but once your instances syncs with Beehaw again it will update. At least that’s my understanding - not sure if there is someone with a better understanding about federated instances and how they handle downvotes.

I’m happy that they’re polishing this game up for folks that may never have played it. There’s a chance I may buy it after I’ve caught up on other games but I’m just as happy knowing that this exists.

I’m glad it’s a few months release from now because with the ports of Pikmin 1 and 2 this is going to be the summer of Pikmin for me lol

Personally, I think the new art looks incredible! It manages to stay true to the original style of the SNES release, but looks modern and can show off a ton of personality. As long as the gameplay is still great, and I’m not sure why it wouldn’t be, I think there is plenty of space for both releases to coexist.

Plus considering Nintendo added Link’s Awakening DX on NSO despite the Switch remake having already been released, it seems like they think so too.
