No, friendly local NSA agent, I am not ACTUALLY advocating for the violent overthrow of the government by the people, yet. I understand full well the costs of a likely civil war, and the oppressed and downtrodden ending up in a worse place for many years - and with no guarantee of any eventual success by the democratic element.

At the same time… I sure as shit wouldn’t shed any tears if the government was successfully and quickly overthrown by the people, seeking a more just society, one less enserfed to financial elites. :)

If you want an example of how the downtrodden overthrowing the “political elites” works out, have a look at Brexit. Apparently “taking back control” and “deciding your own future” means giving more power to less people.

Is it, though? Brexit was pretty heavily favored by financial elites who stood to gain by pillaging the country for the sake of next quarter’s profits (metaphorically speaking). Not to mention the numerous issues around the Brexit vote (not that it wasn’t democratic, mind, but Jesus Christ what a shitshow). It’s not enough to just say that a given measure is restoring power to the people.

I’m not saying “The people don’t make mistakes!”, I note in the comment that a successful, quick, and correctly justified overthrow would be necessary for me not to shed any tears. As I also note, this is by no means guaranteed by upheaval, which is why I don’t actually advocate for it. Yet. Things would have to be worse to justify such a massive gamble.

How much worse can it get? Limited access to food, medication, housing, healthcare, and wait a minute. We’re already there!
