A teenage girl was briefly detained and called a “heroine” when she was released.

I had no idea until today that it was heroic to prevent food from reaching impoverished humans.

Good call, though. Instead of educating people on modern history every single day for eight months, teaching them about obscure subjects like the Fascist violence against Africans, the long‐term effects of the Axis’s famines, a microstate that willingly voted to join the German Reich, the links between medieval pogroms and support for the NSDAP, the Slovakian contribution to the reinvasion of Poland, and the Ustaša’s extermination of Serbs, I could have stood in front of a food aid truck and made fun of some homeless people.

I was talking to a German teacher and she found out that on her school, during WWII, when allies would bomb the school the Germans would run to the bunkers, but Jewish children on the school would not be allowed!

So imagine you are 5 years old and you are being bombed, but your room mate blows up because he’s Jewish.

So some Germans knew pretty well something horrible was going on. Some even protected Jewish, but by doing that you could get serious problems and be labbed of the crime of being “anti German”, which is the same crime of being “antisemite” now if you are in Israel and tries to protect Palestinans.
