The new junta’s move to cut ties with Niger’s former colonial power came amid threats of a military intervention by other West African states.

One thing the Tankies have right is that foreign capital grifting and local leaders keeping in power off of that is what caused this. There’s no actual ideology behind these military governments but wanting to be the new grifters though.

If I was a Nigrien, I wouldn’t want to cooperate with the French either, after they exploited my country for decades.

It’s “Nigerien”, and given that this decision was made by a unelected coup leader, I’d doubt you’d have much say in the matter as a Nigerien.

Well yes, but a coup needs popular support. If France paid a fair price for the nigerien uranium, the coup could maybe have been avoided in the first place and the chance of it succeeding would have been lower.

There is a massive russian infowar op pushing Propaganda atm on tiktok etc. Targeting African people, who so far haven’t been subjected to such scale attacks before.

Im going to predict there will be results. Increased fascist tendencies and hate toward eu and close neighbors for infighting. Looking to close off resources from global free markets and cause a refugee wave toward eu again.

This is excellent for Macron. He may be able to divert attention away from the current domestic crisis 👍

Well the west was sucking their resources with the corrupt elected puppet government. A military government isnt any better but way better than stagnation and colonial abuse. The west rudes on their moral high ground when it advantages them. Russia =west. Ukraine(change to pro west government)=Niger now

I’m amazed at the lengths tankies will go to argue for overthrowing democratically governments and supplanting one colonial power for another one that comes packaged with Wagner and Boko Haram.

        Look, it’s very simple.

A democracy which cooperates as an unequal partner with capitalist powers = Bad

An autocracy or oligarchy which cooperates as an unequal partner with a different capitalist power = Good

Thanks for coming to my tankie talk

another one that comes packaged with Wagner and Boko Haram

Wagner maybe, but I don’t think – I haven’t been closely following the situation, mind – that Boko Haram and the military coup leaders are particularly friendly. The coup wasn’t an Islamist takeover.

It’s not an Islamic State takeover but it’s hard to imagine they won’t be taking advantage of chaos and Niger losing French & US military aid.

Democracy is good no question at that but a corrupt government acting as a proxy to superpowers or rigged elections(russia) are wolfs with a sheeps mask now the wolf has bite another wolf and this will keep happening till they figure out democracy but if outside powers get involved it will be another iraq or iran or afgan.
