I dig the OG slime, but not for DQ. Those goofy and cutesy monster designs are what attracted me to picking up the DQW and DQM games for my Gameboy, back in the day.

For me, it’s D&D, especially the early era. I feel like it wouldn’t look out of place in one of the Monster Folios, though plenty of those had Lovecraftian influence(if not directly lifted from the Mythos to the point of causing legal issues).
When you get Toriyama to do art, you shouldn’t be surprised he gives you Toriyama art.
His art was so freaking distinctive and iconic. So much to this day, you can find Toriyama art in a sea of anime.
Even those he influenced branch out of his art style, because they want to be inspired by the master and not outright steal his style.

Man that game was huge for me. I was so clueless about how anything worked but I spent so many hours playing I made progress. I don’t remember ever completing it, but it was a blast.
Slime sketch looks like a slightly altered version of a babble / metal babble if I’m remembering correctly.
