Surely something is listening on my wife’s iPhone

Forgive me if this is the wrong place to post this question but my wife and I are truly baffled about how Instagram ads are cropping up for things being discussed in person with other people while the phone is asleep / on standby

A week ago at a restaurant she asked me If I’d ever eaten branzino fish. That evening a recipe for branzino showed up on instagram. We never googled that fish name or looked at the menu on our phones.

Today we had a conversation with a friend about their trip to Disneyland Paris. My wife didn’t even know there was a Disneyland in Paris. This evening the as for Disneyland Paris showed up. Again. No searching on the device or anything that would give clues to the conversation.

There is no indication of apps accessing the microphone.

Wtf. It’s beyond creepy and way too specific to be a coincidence. She only uses social media for about 40 minutes a day and this is only two of numerous examples of this happening.

Anyone have any idea what’s happening or how this is even possible given metas insistence that they aren’t listening.
