If you fly in remote enough areas (outside of the post-9/11 security perimeter), the planes are still open to the cockpit. Sometimes it feels like I’m flying the plane from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom with the chicken in the cabin with me. The pilots are indeed often hilarious.

I took a flight down to Chicago and i had the option of taking a 12 seater and it was quite the fun experience compared to normal bigger airplanes.

    “joke” aside

i thought you can’t become a real pilot with bad eyesight. thats why they also retire extremely early.

this might be specific to lufthansa and or germany, outdated or … plane wrong

You can, but if you need correction you have to bring a spare pair of glasses with you to avoid this exact situation. Military pilots do need perfect vision

Is that really irony or coincidence? I guess one would hope/expect the “eyes of the plane” as pilots are in good shape, so a bit eyeronic, but seems like a Meredith Brooks-type usage.

I mean, passenger planes mostly run on auto pilot now. Pilots are kinda more along for the ride to make sure it goes smooth lol.
