Why would you ever be a monarchist if you’re not royalty yourself? What benefits would it possibly have for you?

They think they will be knights, men-in-arms, Earls, Counts, Barons, and etc.

Not realizing that they would be a peasant 999,999 out of 1,000,000 times.

My father’s family are a bunch of monarchists. Literally confused as heck. They’re like, ‘At least our leaders would fight at the frontlines in war!’ and stuff like that.

Btw, those ppl fled Czechoslovakia in '87, cuz my grandpa’s a notorious conspiracy theorist. To this day he’s pissed about the government having broken into his home afterwards and confiscating all his stuff including his conspiracy-theory-book collection. They believe my gramps can cure wounds by hovering with his hands above them…

So yeah, not the most sensible ppl in the world.

The same reason that a class conscious proletarian might still support the dictatorship of capital: ideological solidarity for whatever reason(s). It’s not like material affluence is the only factor for why people are shaped the way they are.

Attention. People aren’t usually monarchists because it is stupid. So this person gets people to notice them by having really stupid takes on things. If it wasn’t monarchism it would be something else. This person is too edgy to be a regular gamergate Gamer type, but not edgy enough to be openly fash. So they are a “monarchist” because it makes people say “wow, that’s really dumb” and it lets them “Umm acktually” all the live long day.

Nothing screams “I was that wannabe edgy kid in high school who was actually just really cringy.” more than someone who says they are a “Monarchist.”

“I want to have a unique political ideology because I’m a really smart and clever person with a lot of interesting ideas in my brain, so I’ve decided to become a contrarian by being a monarchist and because most people have no idea how to even begin to engage with those arguments without just being confused, I’ll take that as victories when I talk to people”

people who are like “well, maybe fascism and communism and capitalism are bad, and we need to think of something new to save humanity from XYZ” tend to be drawn to these kinds of things I find.

a key part of growing up as a politically aware person, particularly in the West where these kinds of weird things can spread due to lack of material demands, is realizing that you’re not actually that clever, let alone inherently superior to others, and that most political ideologies and ideas relevant to current conditions have already been thought up and written down because there’s been so many people to think them and we’ve been in this godsforsaken stage of capitalism a century longer than we should have been

Brilliantly put. People in the west are told implicitly or explicitly, that they, as an individual are important. So they assume their ideas are both original and correct, because they are the main character. And people are taught that intelligence is an innate quality, something you’re born with, rather than a skill. So anyone who gets their ideas challenged will take it personally, as they see it as an attack on them, the important individual and on their intelligence.

Omg… look at how many views he’s getting QwQ He’s literally downplaying fascism. This dude’s inhumane to the core and will talk about how commies terrorized humanity. Meanwhile us Communists are the ones unifying the people while the right is actively working to drive wedges between them.
