    We had thousands of people displaced by wildfires here this year. The worst we’ve seen in a century. They were preceded by multiple hurricanes in the span of 3 years creating large amounts of deadfall in the woods, and an unprecedentedly dry winter and spring.

    People crawled out of the shadows to hiss at anyone who mentioned climate change in the same breath as the fires. “They were caused by human activity!” they cried, as if one can only point to climate change as an associated issue if somehow rains fire down upon the land to ignite the trees.

    People are getting desperate to not notice.
