    So fucking terrible. Lest we forget, wealthy mainlanders have been displacing Hawaiians and other locals long long before this wildfire. Pacific islanders are a far too often forgotten victim of US colonialism and I hope everyone on Maui gets the chance to heal from this without fear of losing there home

      To make that worse, Lahaina was the former capital of the Kingdom of Hawai’i. They have lost their history once again.

          Yeah, just looked again. Multiple articles stating “at least 1000 missing” with a NY post article saying “1300”.

          I also read yesterday that they had only looked through about 3% of the burn area.

          So expect that death toll to rise significantly ☹️

            Per the article above, they’ve searched 32% of the burn area. Still horrific, but better than only 3% searched

              Yeah. Happy to hear they’re searching much quicker and yet the casualty count hasn’t increased like I thought it would.
