i’m sure that person did great stuff and i’m not saying it didnt take them a lot of courage and strength to come out at the time they did but “first openly gay man in world history”? really? in all of documented human history, from all over the world, there has never been an openly gay person before 1870? c’mon
The christians unfortunately did a good job purging historical records of societies and cultures where homosexuality was openly accepted.
So many cultures eradicated because it didn’t fit with the views of bigots.
Probably first openly gay man in modern western society
The Ancient Greeks beg to differ
First openly gay man in world history with a written down quote attributed directly to him that is talking about how gay he is… maybe?
The world history thing was a comment someone else made after he died and is a bit of big claim, but I guess he was the first notable, documented person in the modern era to say “Yeah, I like guys, is there really anything wrong with that?”
There’s not enough contrast in the picture, how do you expect me to read this?
Aww c’mon dude, I tried… 😔
I really couldn’t find a way to make it easier to read and really wanted the flag on the background. I’m still amazed that dude recognized trans people and invented a word for the in the 1860s!
Maybe add an image description?
A thicker outline would help
I had to use Google Lens because I can’t read this post:
Until my dying day I will look back with pride that I found the courage to come face to face
in battle against the spectre which for time immemorial has been injecting poison into me and into men of my nature. Many have been driven to suicide
because all their happiness in life was tainted. Indeed, I am proud that I found the courage to deal the initial blow to the hydra of public contempt.
Karl Heinrich Ulrichs (1870s) “First (openly) gay man in world history”
Thanks
I know people have commented before but they don’t appear to be offering solutions:
You should use a stroke/outline on the text to make it contrast a bit more with the background. The white is hard to read against the lighter parts of the background without it.
It looks like it may have such an outline, but so thin it makes no difference.
