For me it was this 2002 team, with Aaron Brooks, Deuce McAllister, Joe Horn, LeCharles Bentley!
I was finally old enough to chose my own favorite team and the Black and Gold grabbed hold of me!
What about everyone else?
Born into it but started going to games in the Bobby Hebert bag head days. It’s only gotten better since then!
They’ve come far since the “Ain’ts”!! Hoping we can get back to big game now!
I think this is going to be a good season, lots of smart moves in the offseason and good draft picks allows for depth we haven’t seen in a while. Derek Carr appears to fit right in with the team and culture and he is going to surprise some people.
Pretty new fan to the Saints and to the sport in general - I only started following the NFL in 2020 (am in the UK and needed a COVID lockdown hobby haha) and ended up gravitating towards NOLA for a variety of reasons, like the history (perennial underdogs until that fairy tale SB run), the culture, and of course the black and gold!!
I barely understood the rules of the game a couple of years ago, but these days I can’t imagine following any other team.
I guess in retrospect I’m kinda sad that I missed out on the best years of Brees’ career, but I’m here now and enjoying the ride!
Glad to have you! And yeah football can definitely be weird for people that didn’t grow up around it.
If you enjoy the game and the spectacle of it all, I highly recommend watching college football! Same sport (couple of rule variations) but the feel / vibe, passion, and pageantry are IMO more similar to the UKs football.
2015, because 2014 was the first year I watched any NFL and I liked the colors, Brees, Graham, and Payton. And I had a friend who was a fan, so it was fun to root for the same team
