This is perfect for the situation above
Why, I’m missing some reference here?
My first guess was the hood is up to block the dash cam
They’re blocking the dashcam or something? I think.
Maybe it gives them more cover when they’re putting mag after mag into an unarmed black guy who is running away?
Legal cover
About 4(? Mightve been 5) years ago, some cops lifted their hoods and planted some drugs. (Or at least was the claim.)
And then the case was thrown in the court because there was no logic reason to keep both hoods open during a search, right? …
Right?
Guys?

Don’t they have body cams?
7 states require them right now. Thats it. Most are still fighting saying that if the police are on camera they can’t do their job.
It’s not a perfect solution either. There have been plenty of instances where cops “forget to turn on” or “accidently block” their cams. Even cases where, mysteriously, the cams are “accidentally” damaged or the data “corrupted”.
Unfortunately seems like the only defense for these cases is livestreaming police interactions.
Cop unions should be illegal. (All other unions are fine)
Requirements for officers to wear body cameras are meaningless without significant penalties for turning them off when on duty
Absolutely, and you can generalize that to any sort of requirements are worthless if they don’t have as much teeth as the power they are trying to check.

Well, when your job is to menace the communities you are supposedly charged with protecting, all that extra attention can really be a bother.
Rarely, yes, but the technology to create a body cam that functions reliably when near police officers hasn’t been developed yet.
Current models waste space, weight, and durability by including an “off” button.
You mean the broken once or those with empty batteries?
“Mildly?”
You mean recording?
Oooooh look! A pedant!
