This time I’m using a slightly more complicated pattern, but tbh unfortunately not a pattern that I had to learn anew. For the lantern frame I’m using American Nutwood. At least that is what we call it here in Germany. I don’t know which kind of nut exactly that is. The color is brown, obviously. It also shimmers purple when the light is right.
I’m not well versed in the massive variety of lumber available, but given the color I’m guessing walnut?
Excellent craftsman ship on the lanterns!
I also guess walnut: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juglans#Wood
Thanks you both, this fits my description perfectly.
So intricate! Amazing!
Very nice, love me some kumiko. Do you happen to know what the pattern is called?
Phew, this took me a while to research. It is a variant of Tsuno-shokkō. I basically left our the connecting bars and put the pattern in every instead of every second frame intersection.
Very cool, I appreciate the effort and response! I’m starting with a few basic patterns like asa-no-ha to get the hang of it and always like seeing other ones for inspiration.
Nice job!
