The top mod of r/piracy has been removed by the admins and the subreddit will reopen.
Ex-captain here. AMA.
Why of course we’re already in the fediverse. !piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com
I’m glad you did this. Hopefully more mods will follow your lead.
Is the entire mod team still with you? Or did a mod (or several) bow to Reddit?
Any hope of getting a post or message on the sub now to inform subscribers to also check out the new fediverse home?
Any plans to try and move archival content from the sub to the new home?
Many of them followed, but the nr2 is not as they never showed any intention of ever leaving reddit
Hopefully in 2 days when it will reopen
Thanks for your sacrifice. Reddit is not the future if they get too big that our user input doesn’t mean anything to them anymore.
For the lazy: https://kbin.social/m/piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com
man lemmy really has to come up with an easier way to handle other instances within the fediverse.
Yup, I made a browser extension for this, but I’m sure at some point it will be handled natively

Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/es/firefox/addon/kbin-link/The one for chrome might be a little buggy as it’s an older version, but should update soon. I also recommend using it only on sites where you expect to see the links as it might slow down very big websites.
Your avatar feels appropriate. Good sailing in the Fediverse o7.
Do you have any plans to rally the community of r/piracy to come over as an act of rebellion, to raise down the former r/piracy subreddit in a flood of comments and bots in a show of protests - or tis the act done? Onward and upward from here, no looking back.
effectively we’ve already rallied the /r/piracy community to come here. We’re all in https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/c/piracy
something about this is hilariously ironic, given how much reddit cracked down on various piracy subreddits.
For sure. They just banned /NewYuzuPriacy 3 days ago for example.
The only thing that makes sense to me is that they sent an automated message to all the private subs over a certain threshold. And it looks like some scab submod decided to mutiny and take the sub.
Well considering it should be really difficult to mod in coming days, make accounts and spam the sub sending people over seems to be the best way to counter this move. Make it hurt knowing that subreddit took away the tools Mods need to moderate effectively.
r/pics was forced to reopen but they complied maliciously by limiting themselves to pics of John Oliver. If there are any sympathetic mods left, maybe r/piracy could be limited to pictures of pirates? I deleted both of my reddit accounts so I wouldn’t be able to vote if there was a poll.
I’m still on reddit due to following subs that has very little chance to move here. If there are any hilarious poll like the one on r/pics, I will gladly help to make the result as hilarious as possible… lol…
Dunno if it’s still open, but r/gifs had an essentially identical poll going to the one r/pics ran.
You should create the communities you want to see here!
I mean I know there are bigger issues at play here, but can’t help saying: Ewww…i forgot how gross it is when not using old.reddit.com.
I mean the new site wasn’t that bad, just the slight annoyance of “PLEASE DOWNLOAD OUR SHITTY APP 🥺”

surely this won’t come back to bit him in the ass. surely…
Let’s just say… that ship has sailed.
Bloody hell, it’s crazy!
Call Bowser! He’ll never stand for this.
What’s really odd about this is that just yesterday they were banning NewYuzuPiracy and then they turned around and force a piracy sub-open. Nintendo might feel this is a slap at them because they said they’d help us and then opened the largest piracy sub back up.
I read r/piracys statement on reddit and was impresed.
It seems to me that most mods and users of many of the largest subreddits (and many small) are willing to fight hard and long to usurp Lord King Spez and that there is alot of coordination taking place amongst mods. Do you share this view.ä?
It seems to me in that many subreddits and users will have to move in the end. Agree? And it might be a good thing that not all users follow (reddit has been getting worse the last 5 years)?
What is one thing lemmy or kbin should improve on asap?
Thanks for all you mods do.
