I don’t want to be pedantic in reply to a heartfelt comment but since I believe Richard himself would say this: he advocates for free software which is fundamentally different from open source.

Sad news about a pioneer of internet freedom. He has earned his fair share of criticism and detractors, but he has also given a lot to the Linux and free software ecosystem. I personally run !boinc@sopuli.xyz on all my rigs to support open-source cancer research, I hope one day we can finally cross cancer off the list of humankind’s foes.
If the human body or cancer were Free and Open Source, it’d be much easier to cure too.

Gotta say the older I get, the more I appreciate what he stands for. Especially as we spiral toward a dystopian future where privacy is suspect and surveillance is everywhere, FOSS is the only way to retain control over our digital lives.
