  • improbable female authority figure

    female authority figure is Cadian

Cadia is (yes, Cadia still stands. fite me chaos nerds) a world where every human with a pulse and an age above 5 is handed a rifle and sent to boot camp because LITERAL HELL IS RIGHT THERE, JUST LOOK UP AT THE DAEMONS COMING TO GET YOU

    Bruh.

    Ultramarines are improbably diverse

Ultramar is literally Space Rome, a massive cosmopolitan space empire consisting of 500 worlds and trillions of people

    capitaldcolon

I’m going to find this person and beat them with my worn-out copy of Know No Fear until they stop whining about the existence of women and black people long enough to have at least a cursory knowledge of the lore they’re butchering.

  • There’s definitely been a trend of growing sentiment against any sort of authority under capitalism combined with general anti-intellectualism here. The threads full of people screaming that 9/11 was an inside job because jet fuel can’t melt steel beams was absurd, no matter how many people wander in pointing out that’s not how that works and that, yes, you should generally trust structural engineers even if they exist within the framework of capitalism, or threads like this full of people saying that (the very real) systemic racism within healthcare means that doctors have no clue what they’re talking about in any context and that you should just self medicate instead.

  • It’s also dumb because the Franco-Prussian War was re-litigated two more times afterwards in WW1 and WW2, and has only not been repeated again because western Europe fell under the American sphere of influence which prevented any more major European wars. It’s essentially irrelevant for modern times despite only happening 150 years ago.

Meanwhile, the American Civil War was never properly ended. The slave-owning class that started it continued on and is still in power today, and the vast brainworms of “The South Will Rise Again!” were never rooted out and destroyed. All it takes for the average American to have to think about Lincoln is spending twenty minute with their racist uncle, so obviously it’s more relevant.
