All the articles that came out early 2024 talking about chinas emission peak because they had 2 quarters of emissions growth slowing down. Well now that 2024 is done we can see that was completely false and emissions continue to rise exponentially.

Fuck China they are the largest pollutor by far, 2nd largest economy in the world. They have used climate change to grow their economy while the world agreed to reducing emissions. Its not fair and it undermines everything. Why should other countries reduce emissions when the biggest polluters refuses to make any significant progress.

You didn’t answer the question. Those events do not replicate the situation in Palestine. The situation in Palestine is so lopsided that war is just not a realistic option.

If my country was occupied I would fight initially and for years after no matter how lopsided however if we got slaughtered multiple wars in a row i’d give up on violent resistance. If I was born in a country occupied for decades with a massive power difference like say china I would just live my life in whatever conditions existed. Things would be hard enough without getting bombed and sieged.

I do not think blame for the wars sits with the person who sold the weapons. There are plenty of people selling bombs. Sell Israel no bombs and they go somewhere else, restrict weapons sales and you keep them as an ally but limit their capability.

I would urge you to re-read that and scrutinize the claims because I do not think that should ruin your view of Dan. Think about the claims and ask your self if you really care about those points.

That letter comes off as extremely pathetic. The guy is human. Nothing said there was crazy or rude or worth canceling support for a over. None of the nitpicked points had nearly enough evidence or context for people to make a judgement. The presentation was extremely bias and borderline untrue.

For example “I am also in talks with @hazy! to join our team” is not an official offer to join the team. Yet this letter presents it as a set in stone offer that Dan went back on for unjustified reasons. Dan gave his reasons why the offer fell through and if he is to be believed (and if he isnt) then the negotiations fell through and thats normal and ok.

Another example. This letter says Dan is so mean to his fellow fedi devs calling them rats. Then shows 3 instances of Dan clearly responding to attacks against him. Why can these “fellow” fedi devs attack dan but Dan cannot defend himself? The comments for Dan were unbelievably tame. He does not call fedi devs rats he calls some of the people attacking him rats. There is a big difference there.

I would push back on any example in that doc (except the open source one) because they all seem very stupid.

People start these projects as a hobby and users expect higher than corporate level professionalism its insane. You want people to be human but you dogpile anyone who acts human.

I was taking aim at the evil influence to the region. The Americans and Israeli didn’t start the war. They have been working to build ties and alliances to promote regional stability. There are Iranian proxy groups that are destabilizing the region, these people are to blame for the war and destabilizing the region. You cannot support these groups.

I understand people get hurt in war but negotiations with these groups is going terribly. They have insane demands and are completely delusional. You would never accept a terrorist group doing an attack on your country without repercussions.

You do realize the United States didn’t start that war. They’ve done a lot to stabilize the region and they have tried to solve the issue both before and after the war.

You try and negotiate a deal between Israel and Palestine it’s not an easy task.
