For all your owl related needs!
Ahh, another new vocabulary word for me!
I feel the same about the Long Ear. I don’t think it would be my number 1 over all, if I had to pick one it would likely be GHO just because it is what I see when I close my eyes and think “owl.”
Long Eared is neither too big to be that scary nor too small as to be overly fragile. A lot of the great looks of the GHO, but with orange facial disc and sometimes orange eyes (orange is one of my fav colors), good moustache and plumicorns, and it’s actually social for an owl, so you can see lots of them together! The rugged individualism and shear power of the GHO again gives it a slight edge overall, but the LEO I think has a good bit of all owl positive qualities, yet is kind and approachable for a death machine. WFS has most of those things, but not the group activity, so still top 10, probably top 5 easy.
It’s not like I get shorted on seeing them of course, I just don’t make as many posts about them, so I don’t really lose out, it just perplexes me a bit.
Its face looks much happier than the Burrowing Owl I met.
Hard to tell from the audio if it’s happy or not. It’s a shame there’s no local video for me to put the actual clip here. Lil one is just shrieking the whole time! 😆
That’s so perfect!
Way better than 24-988…
SOS - Scops Owl Sighting
ROFL - Rodents Outside, Feeding Likely
I agree. While not the “best” pictures, I feel this likely captures what it actually looks like more than some skilled photographer’s shot.
I was also just very excited to see it hanging out at a residence. From what I gather, these guys aren’t exactly an owl one runs into regularly, so it was cool to see it come check out us humans.
I like your answer better.
Vanilla is the most popular owl flavor.
I feel ya. I hope they spend more time infighting for power and attention and don’t harm too much actual important stuff, but I won’t hold my breath.
It’s going to be a long couple of years…
Agreed. I’ve followed less and less of all content since probably mid October.
Americans are mad, everyone else is mad at us for what happened. I don’t fault anyone for being mad, but I feel we’ve only got like a dozen Trump people on Lemmy, so everyone’s just taking it out on each other.
We’re gonna be screwed for a long time if we can’t stop infighting.
It snapped me out of being conservative, so there were a few positives.
Trump goes back to Nixon (he basically hired all the same people that tried to cover for him, Ailes, Stone, others).
Nixon getting away with things to save the country further embarrassment goes back to the post-Civil War events.
Events leading up to the Civil War, ie. slavery, starts in the Americas between 1492 if you count the Caribbean, the 1500s if we’re talking Ponce DeLeon, and the 1600s if we’re looking at just the people that directly lead to modern America.
I truly hope Trump can be looked at less consequentially in the future, but we’re not at the end of his time in politics yet, so who can say. He’s got a lot of competition for worst president ever, he’s just at the front of everyone’s mind because we’re in the present. I remember when we thought no one could top Bush Jr.
My mistake there. I have all my “Ask_” communities together in one linked community, and this is a recent add to that.
It still was important to differentiate if OP wanted to include more early non-European history, or just the colonization and governing of the American territory. Like if someone asked for the history of Germany, do they want from the Roman Empire or the unification of states into modern Germany.
I was I had got a shot of the titmouse that was just here! That was one swol borb! 😆
No need for self-flagellation, it’s never too late to learn things!
If there’s one thing I try to stress, it’s there no shame in ignorance unless it’s willful ignorance!
This may have been previously unknown crucial life knowledge, but today you learned! 😆
