Some gourmet edible mushroom species can be hard or impossible to find in stores but can be grown at home. There are lots of different types with different properties that are fun to learn about and try growing. You can improve your technique and setup. It is sort of like gardening but also very different, and can be done in the off season. It’s a hobby for me but I think there’s a lot of depth possible.

What do you use to shred the cardboard? I’ve been keeping an eye out for an 18 page+ paper shredder or a garden shredder for a good price but nothing has come up yet.
