The most famous forms of Holocaust denial and revisionism tend to focus on Jews, casting doubt, for example, on how many were exterminated in the camps. But denying the impact the Nazis had on the other groups they targeted, including queer and trans people, disabled people and Romani people, is still Holocaust denial. Maybe someone should tell J.K. Rowling.
There’s a difference between popular and good.
HP managed to get popular by catering to 10 year olds. It managed to stay popular by delivering unrestricted fan service to that same cohort. It’s laudable that she managed to get a bunch of 10 year olds interested in reading but there’s much more to a good book than that.
There are already numerous essays that analyze the technical details of her ham handed writing but the most obvious sign is the massive apathy to the franchise from groups outside the target cohort. I’ve watched my kids and their friends caring about HP less and less and the sales demographics mirror that experience. The kids today are much more into “Wings of Fire” and “Percy Jackson”.
That makes HP, at best, a fad. There are plenty of children’s stories that are much better written than HP.
