I just saw one of these as well. I was curious as to why they’d bother just laying one track and using wheels. I think it has to do with getting the benefits of a tram line, but a smoother ride and less expense from maintaining track that bears weight rather than just being a guide rail.
My initial assumption is that it’d be better to lay the track and use metal wheels instead of rubber, but it is a thing that places are choosing
I think the idea is to get a fixed guideway without the expense of laying down two rails, but in reality it’s just the worst of both buses and trams with some other extra problems.
