I am not calling to coddle or excuse the behavior of bigoted men in any way!
I am calling to be kind and understanding to young men (often ages 10-20) who are very manipulable and succeptible to the massive anti feminist propaganda machine. Hope this clarifies that very important distinction. :)

Religion is treated as an immutable trait under US civil rights law, and has been since at least the 1964 Civil Rights Act that, among other things, ended segregation

Also, in the West, Muslims seem to be functionally treated as an ethnoreligious group. At least Muslims who are Arab/Turkish/Persian/Punjabi/etc
So while membership within a religion is certainly a choice, I think anti-Muslim persecution typically materializes as a colorist form of discrimination in real life examples
