The fanbase, having largely sided with Microsoft (Who not only now owned Minecraft, but unlike Notch, actually updated the fucking game), declared that Hatsune Miku was the true original creator of Minecraft… Since then declaring Hatsune Miku the “TRUE” creator of something when a property is popular, but the creator of it is a horrible person, has been a go-to running joke of the internet.

Hatsune Miku is a “Virtual Idol” from Japan created by the Sega Corporation. Essentially they made a software that could sing and make music, and then to promote this, they named the voice “Hatsune Miku” and drew a body for her… Various original songs advertised as being “By Hatsune Miku” herself were made to show off what the software could do and the campaign was so successful that in Japan she’s… well… like the Gorillaz, a famous musician that doesn’t actually exist.
So I’m saying “Harry Potter good, JK Rowling bad” when I say “Hatsune Miku wrote Harry Potter”
