I had an uncle who fled Hungary after the Communist Revolution in 1956. he was about 5. I don’t know the details but my understanding is that the Hungarian gov’t was pretty hostile towards Jewish people. I looked it up and the population of Jewish people went from 130,000 in 1951 to 70,000 by 1970.

so I guess he was a Soviet satellite for like a year
