Believe I also turned off all “promo” emails and communications of any sort in the settings while i did have linkedin… thinking about just straight up deleting it now instead of leaving the profile deactivated.

Yeah, they do this to entice you to come back and re-activate your profile. Change the email for the account to one you use for spam/sign-ups so they won’t have any connection to you and fully delete the account.
Great idea, have started doing this for new services i sign up for now too. Slowly but surely improving my email-privacy.
