The screening I was in had no issues whatsoever except the odd fleck of dust dancing across the screen. My friend, though, had to wait 5 minutes for them to fix the projector.
I love the novelty and agree that this is all part of the experience, but they probably should have recommended most threaters run an intermission half way through to ease the literal burden on the projectors.
