They think of themselves as middle class and burger flippers as lower class.

It’s crazy but they don’t see working class vs. capitalist class.

But yeah, a lot of it turned out to be about prestige. If the burger flipper makes as much as me then I’m no better than them. I.e. I can’t keep telling myself well at least I’m not at the bottom.
