EDIT: It seems like one specific user has been posting a number of anti-islam memes. To this I say “so what”. This sub is a place for atheists to congregate. If youre upset that your own brand of bullshit is being debunked, youre in the wrong place. All religon is wrong.
I have been an atheist with a scientific worldview my whole life, just like my parents and even grandparents. I have always been criticizing religion in factual manner. However - what is happening in this sub is in large parts clearly hate mongering and I am disgusted by it. This sub is mostly a circle jerk of people who hate religion who come here to confirm each others biases - not of atheists - because in case you are not aware, those two are not the same. Structurally there is not really a difference to a right wing extremist sub where racists come together to confirm each other in their racism.
I love that some places atheism is centered around logic and others it’s centered around attacking other people regardless. Your ad hominem attack shows that you’re either atheist for the illogical reasons or you at least don’t care to apply logic everywhere.

One of them is criticizing a historical Christian organization and using it to debunk an argument against atheists, another one is criticizing legislation that favors religious institutions in a predominantly Christian country, the third one is criticizing a trend in certain religious institutions but usually refers to Christian ones.
This is obviously a sub focused on preaching and spreading hate against Muslims.

But let’s look at the premise of your argument. This one meme is clearly criticizing a historical figure that raped a minor, declared it morally justified, and also happens to be the prophet of a religion. Are you arguing that we shouldn’t call out pederasty if the criminal is an important religious figure? In general, or only if they belong to Islam in particular?
I might have got the wrong impression that the hate here was focused primarily on Islam because of the Islamophobic meme that I reacted to initially. When I scroll the memes and comments in this sub, I have to admit that the hate fueled circle jerk seems to target other religions as well. That does in no way make it better though. I still choose to block this sub because many comments here seem very hateful against religious people in the first place and only atheist in the second place. Enjoy confirming each others biases and hate. Bye bye

Hating religious people in general is dumb when the vast majority of ‘religious’ people have the common sense to not follow their violent religions exactly.

I see your point and ask myself if that hate is based purely on Islamic sources or do we actually have historic proof of these things? As we are both atheists I would assume you agree that religious texts like the bible and the quran are not particularly believable sources of information.
