Rep. George Santos and his former campaign aide, both indicted by federal prosecutors, appear to be in plea talks with the government, according to court papers filed Tuesday.

Prosecutors in the Santos case asked the judge overseeing the case to delay a court hearing set for Thursday because “the parties have continued to discuss possible paths forward in this matter.” They added: “The parties wish to have additional time to continue those discussions.”

I’m hoping it’s a list of the people who taught him the ropes, whether they be donors or other elected officials.

The thing with crime families like the GOP is that once you crack one, others become available. It can be an avalanche.

I think they’ve controlled enough for long enough that they’ve been able to avoid those cracks. But the system is at a breaking point across the board, so I don’t think the gravy train will last.

He can say he will resign as part of the deal. Removes the issue of whether or not the Republicans have to kick him out so there may be pressure from all sides to include that, and if Republicans are saying they would kick him out regardless then there’s nothing to lose.

But I imagine there’s a good amount of discussion on how much that buys him since it’s a pretty rare situation.
