Proof this is a Bethesda game. It feels like home.

It’s be disingenuous to say the animations aren’t absolutely improved. But it’d also be disingenuous to say all of the little engine quirks aren’t still there. It’s not about the quality of those animations, it’s the slow snapping between them and the amount of time before the NPC is “ready to talk”

Like three hours in I encountered the dancing corpse bug – basically a staple. Never change, Bethesda. 🥰

(e: I’m throwing shade, but this is an epic game, truly.

e2: also, search for ’dancing corpse bug’. It’s been in Bethesda’s *physics engine since the beginning. You’ll find video examples in every game they’ve released. Some of the videos are hilarious.)

After the very first pirate raid I kept hearing npc banter and couldn’t figure out where they were, every dead pirate and miner would trigger voice lines when I came close!

I choose to believe the engine is straining under the weight of old age and the absolute mountain of content they’ve shoved into this game. Creation Engine was days from retirement and got signed up for another tour. Its trying its best
