Yeah, it is still pretty surreal to me. Is it just the money? Because he is sacrificing power, which is pretty much antithetical to what I know of Vince. And it isn’t just his his children, but his children who would effectively canonize him with rose-colored glasses. It is nice to think there would be a big shift if Triple H and Stephanie took over, and there might’ve been, but WWE has always mythologized the past to the point that (for most people) WWE is wrestling/sports entertainment. That’s probably the closest to godhood he could’ve had. Now, what? He’s gunna rot away as a board member of this amalgamation? More billionaires with bad ideas will get their fingers on the product? Idk. If there is one thing I’ve learned about the industry in the last 5-10 years, it’s that you can’t predict anything.

I feel (as the uninformed choad I am of course) that when he ‘retired’ he both realized A) (power-wise) he loathed seeing the product go on and prosper without him at the helm as WWE was his baby, even if it was family running the show, and B) (money-wise) with the lawsuits & legal troubles popping up he probably felt he could make more money if he sold the company, than he would make in however much time he had left running it himself with those aforementioned legal issues causing problems and the board/investors possibly not wanting him around much more.

But again I’m an idiot so lol~

Yeah, the hush payments and sexual misconduct certainly complicated things. I hope that whatever was discussed behind closed doors is revealed someday. Because it ain’t just you, we are all just idiots who love meat-slappin, flippy theatre.
