This seems to not be based on safety at all and is probably Mapps and Williams spending money PBOT doesn’t have because of complaints by business owners that are not based on data.

Exactly the kind of stupid decisions I expected Mapps to make when Teddy appointed him.

Nah man, the people are awesome, they make it fun, friendly, interesting, and sometime crazy. Cars though. Everytime I’m waiting for a midtown bus (NYC) and traffic fills the whole block, all I can think is that all of those people would fit on the bus I’m waiting for.

If we banned, or heavily taxed every car that wasn’t a taxi/rideshare or work/delivery vehicle, it’d run like clockwork. Why do we let the 45% (greater NYC) ruin it for the the 55% that don’t have cars.

ETA: downvoted by a carbro, I feel validated.

Man, we do that in Singapore, and I still think we could do with less cars. Meanwhile the moans everytime the COE goes up…

So, no cars downtown and no bikes outside. Cool? ;)

Bikes are fine. Way more efficient, less dangerous, no pollution.

It’s come to my attention of tire wear = microplastics

Obviously still much much less pollution, but some

Fair enough, and bikes also pollute with oil coming off the chain etc. Although I suspect pollution from a bike is well under 1% of the pollution from a car.
