It’s September and my summer top is done, which means one thing: My longtime WIP (once frogged, now being re-knitted) is out of the drawer and ready to cover everything in red hair!

Unfortunately, it also means that I’m using my old basic circulars again because I superstitious and afraid of changing needles mid-project). Significantly lesser knitting experience compared to my beloved Reflections.

If all my clothes weren’t black, they’d definitely be green as a second choice 😄

Managed another two whole sleeve rounds last night after posting this too so you know, totes storming along…

Totally know what you mean. My clothes are mostly plain black/brown/grey because these colours are a safe bet for me. I’m weary of taking a colour risk when I’ll put so much time and effort in making a garment…“Luckily”, knitting with black yarn is such a pain in the eye that I’m forced to pick a colour :)

Hah, yup, I ended up having to set a strict colour palette for myself because otherwise I was just picking weird bright colours at random that were fun to knit or sew or whatever, but that I never wore! Just not a colourful person deep down, I guess.

(my palette is like, black, dark green, dark blue, purple etc…embracing my inner witch)

As a person with a cool winter complexion, I resemble that last remark 🤣. My wardrobe is totally in that comment. I’ve been trying to branch out but I keep coming back.

Apparently I’m something called a bright spring and I should be wearing bright orange and turquoise and other such things. But you can rip my dark witchy vibes out of my cold dead hands 😂

Glad that you brought that up! How did you determine your colours? I’ve tried an online tool that uses pictures, but the results are all over the place…

Ok right so I admit I fell down this rabbithole when I was planning my wedding dress and worried about doing it “wrong”. And I learned a lot, but mostly what I learned is just to wear stuff that makes you feel good regardless of the rules. So please promise me you’ll still do that.

BUT, if you do want to undertake this mission:

I found most articles and guides were very surface level and kind of assumed you knew a lot of stuff already, which I did not. But https://theconceptwardrobe.com/colour-analysis-comprehensive-guides/seasonal-color-analysis-which-color-season-are-you is very in-depth and explains the theory of everything in a way my brain understood.

I used that to narrow down the possibilities a bit and then looked through the detailed guides for my shortlist https://theconceptwardrobe.com/colour-analysis-comprehensive-guides/complete-seasonal-guides to figure out which was actually me, because as with most things I didn’t seem to fit neatly into any category at first 😅

Ymmv! But again, just wear colours you like, screw the rules.

                  Don’t worry, I promise :D
No way a purple like your skirt can escape from me, no matter what. Btw, I was also on the team black-purple-forest green for a long long time, but apparently I took it too far because at some point I just couldn’t anymore.

Since then, most things I sew or buy feel slightly off when I start wearing them. So, choosing colours for a project kind of stresses me. That’s why I had a look at the colour palette thing, but it was overwhelming… Thank you so much for the suggestions!
