I think part of it is the fact the site has no downvotes. So when Hexbear users disagree with a take, they comment to explain why they think it’s wrong.
Leftist site with a lot of active users means that there’ll be some topics that can probably feel like a bit of a dogpile when a whole pack of users start wading in to give their views.
Alongside this, Hexbear users are intolerant towards any bigotry they encounter and a lot of folks out there have unexamined blind spots in that regard.
To some people out in the Lemmyverse, these factors have resulted in Hexbear getting a reputation as hyperagressive trolls that swarm any post they disagree with.
In your settings there should be a ‘display name’ field that you can change that will be separate from your account name, you can add your pronouns to that and it will work.
