The WarioWare series has been around since the Nintendo DS, but with Motion Control the microgames have become a real blast. As on the Nintendo Wii, it’s just huge fun to face the crazy challenges that last only seconds, in crazy poses in front of the screen. It’s too bad that the single-player mode is already over before it has really begun. But instead, other game modes for single, party and multiplayer challenges can be found in WarioWare Move It! to round off the amusement.

With or without friends, WarioWare: Move it! will have you smiling at every turn. Featuring hundreds of new and quirky micro-games, Move it! gets you on your feet and moving once more by striking silly poses with the Joy-Cons, which feels (mostly) natural and accurate. It’s not the kind of game you can play for hours, but it will be one to return to any time you need a pick-me-up. Its sense of humor and goofy mechanics will stay fresh for years to come. Finally, this is the successor to Smooth Moves we’ve been waiting for.

WarioWare: Move It! is the embodiment of fun. It’s the kind of game that pulls people together, quickly turning the quietest gatherings into laughter-filled frenzies. If you’re expecting a meaty gameplay experience that will have you hooked for hundreds of hours, then you’ll definitely come away disappointed.
But, if you’re after a whacky party game to play solo or together with friends and family, then WarioWare: Move It! is a great addition to your Switch collection.

WarioWare: Move It! is a much-needed reset for a series that’s long struggled to hit the creative heights of its Nintendo Wii entry. A return to the physical fun of WarioWare: Smooth Moves is just what the doctor ordered, making for one last must-own Switch party game that’s not afraid to cut loose. Though it takes two steps forward, it’s a step back from Get It Together’s most ingenious modes, leaving more space for Nintendo to perfect its wackiest series.

WarioWare: Move It! is another great entry in this long-running franchise that brings back the motion-controlled mayhem whilst giving you plenty of ways to enjoy its loony fun with family and friends. There are lots of fun modes to dig into and unlock here, the microgames are as daft and colourful as ever, and, as long as you can make peace with things not being quite as fun solo, it’s really hard to knock the chaotically silly vibe of this most excellent party game.

WarioWare: Move It! is a return to form (pun intended) for the WarioWare series that feels long overdue. It cleverly utilises the unique capabilities of the Joy-Con in ways that haven’t been done before, all while remaining both endearing and funny. While the simplicity of Party Mode is both its greatest strength and weakness, WarioWare: Move It! is easily WarioWare at its best and the most fun you’ll have looking goofy.

There’s a ton of daft and inventive microgames here (with a slightly surprising amount of bum shaking), that’s great for solo, co-op and multiplayer, but brace yourself for some wonky motion controls and fleetingly frustrating failures.

Finally, a Switch game that gets why motion control can be a blast under the right circumstances. WarioWare: Move it! hits all the high notes and continues a fine tradition in ridiculousness.
“The Big Cheese is the Dark Souls of poses” from the Destructoid review gave me a good chuckle. Unfortunately, The Big Cheese was also the Dark Souls of poses back in Smooth Moves, and it’s not encouraging to hear this game might be just as fiddly.
This November isn’t as stacked for me as last year’s, but I think I’m still going to wait on this one a bit.
