That’s exactly how I argue, I present ideas in the hope they will be challenged - because if I’m proven wrong I will come out knowing more than I went in. However, if you get shut down with cliquey slurs then there is no challenge nor anything productive from the conversation. In the sea of that I have had a few good, in depth conversations with a couple people on hexbear - but they get drowned out.

Censoring for bigotry, nazism, and various other things are often bullshit excuses. This isn’t unique to hexbear, though, you can see it in a lot of modlogs - the reason doesn’t match up with the comment. For example:

Removed Comment Would you like to explain exactly which aspect of my comment that stated, with evidence, that this event actually happened is misinformation? An event that absolutely happened and there’s not even anyone denying it happened including the DNC themselves? by user

      reason: Be civil

Removed Comment Some mod want to explain why my comments were removed for “misinformation” for sharing the DNC email leak showing bias against Bernie Sanders? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_Democratic_National_Committee_email_leak by user

      reason: Be civil

A big flaw in the modlog is you can’t always see which community or thread it was from. So half the time when you see “Rule x” or whatever given as the reason for a comment removal you can’t even tell which community’s rules was allegedly broken.

Hexbear at least do give reasons, but you end up with things like “xxx apologia” even when the comments have nothing to do with “xxx” or aren’t even supporting anything - the ban is for criticising things the mods are sensitive about.

you seem very mad about this when im not even hating on ya

Mostly I’m annoyed at the misuse of the term “lib” as some sort of childish dismissal, one that doesn’t hold up to real scrutiny. But, half the point of hurling it is to be annoying, so there isn’t really any point in trying to address it.
