Mastodon runs in a decentralized manner, with its servers dispersed through a network of thousands of computers, calling itself a “user-driven” social platform.
I never bothered to sign up for Twitter, mostly because I never felt like I had anything to say. But I want to sign up for Mastodon because I like the concept. What are people using it for if they are not people with followers/fans?
Honestly, I feel like what I’m doing here would have been better suited for something like Mastodon, but like you, I have never used Twitter so it didn’t even cross my mind until after I made it. Maybe you can replicate this, or even just use it to follow news
