This search should obviously return the official Docker Hub Redis image, https://hub.docker.com/_/redis, but it’s just a bunch of blogs.

On DuckDuckGo the first result is the Docker Hub image, which is what everyone would want.

Is searching for a specific object really such a weird thing? Op is clearly asking for a file, but the search engine is overoptimized for blog posts

It’s optimized for what algorithms tell it will be the best response, no different than any other one. If you want keyword search only, don’t use Google. If you don’t want to be datamined, don’t use Google. If you want a docker image, search for it on Docker hub, not a search engine.

Right, which is my point, the algorithm sucks. If people talk about a piece of software returning bad results the typically mean the algorithm of the software. I don’t know what you’re trying to correct here.

The larger point is the enshittification of google and lamenting the way it works now. It used to be extremely useful, you could search for files and find them nearly instantly. Questions returned straight-to-the-point answers or it was clear that the question needed restating. Recipes or how-to tutorials or simple webtools were lean and there was no reason to overload them.

Now there is so much filler text and other random shit that needs to be tacked on for the results to float to the top or even be considered relevant. This shit here is what I and I think OP as well was talking about
