If you were paying $60/year to print, I’d say you were printing a lot.

That’s as much as I ever paid for a printer. I have two currently, a BW laser and a color. Paid $50 for the color used…its 2 years old.

Just can’t see wasting money on inkjets with their issues, and I’ve had many. First was a 1992 HP Bubble jet, which worked great for the time, but died before it ran out of ink.

We’d replace the cartridges about once a year, hence the cost, usually because we did run out. We don’t print a lot, cartridges just don’t hold much ink.

Maybe we’ll go laser next time. I like the idea of it not drying out. I had a LaserJet 4M+ for a while that would suck so much power that the lights dimmed, so I got rid of it, but I guess modern lasers are better about that.

We’ve had good experience with the inkjets we’ve had - the previous one, an HP from 2010, still works well, too - we mainly decided to get a new one because ink is getting harder to find for it. I’m not even sure I can buy HP ink for it…the last ink we got for it was aftermarket, and it didn’t last long.
